1. Indian Hair:  It eliminated the weave crawl...you know what we mean...when your weave starts crawling on itself and tangling...  Now us regular girls can have the same hair as our favorite celebs.

2. Tancho Stick:  Tamed the edges with a gentle lavender wax.  It's an essential part of a "California Press"

3. Aphoghee Two Step Protein Treatment: This hard core protein treatment changed the game.  Just when you are about to write off your hair as a thin piecey mess....this treatment can revitalize even the thinnest and sorriest of hair.  It is a must for when you take out your hair extensions.

4. Sulfate Free Shampoos: Deva Curl No Poo or Curls Cleansing Cream:  Thanks to Sunny's Girl Lacey.... we learned about the miracle regimen by the founder of Deva Curl.  No sulfates, no towels and no combs with seams to manage curly hair.

5. Brazilian Keratin Treatments:  The word on the street is that this just might be the all time game changer.  It's not a relaxer but it does help control frizz. The consensus is that this treatment allows you to do you hair on your own without always having to run to a salon to get sleek shiny straight hair.



6. Steamers:  A miracle treatment introduced to us by Kim Kimble of Epiphany Salon in LA.  Any other attempt to hydrate extremely curly hair is ridiculous after receiving regular steam treatments.  It's a true game changer.

7. FHI Ceramic Flat Irons:  This miracle tool allowed us to say goodbye to the pressing comb.  This just might be the game changer of the past decade.  This tool can get the curliest hair straight with one pass...that's right one pass!  The triple layered ceramic plates are what's essential to this game changer.

8. Bhringraj Oil:  On a trip to India we learned of this miracle restorative oil. It's smelly thick and contains goat milk...but one drop of this and 15 minutes under the steamer and you have a new head of hair. 
9. Bohyme Brazilian Wave:  Allowed women who are transitioning to natural to hair more hair just like our natural hair.  It's a great product for women who just want more of their own natural hair.

10. Lacefront Wigs:  These have allowed women to transform their look with the lace that recreates the hairline.  While the prices have come down dramatically you still need to view them as an investment. They allowed women with alopecia and medical hair loss to feel like they haven't missed a step and til this day that's who they look best on.

Looks we Love: Laura Izibor

We stumbled across Laura Izibor's music the other day and we love her natural tresses.  She embraces the texture and styles her curls with a spunk that is still elegant.  So much so that we declare Laura Ibizor a look we love! 
How would we recreate her look?  12" Bohyme Brazilian Wave dry cut with some face framing layers in color 2/30.   Allow the hair to dry in two strand twists to have a more defined look or allow it to air dry as it is for a look more like Laura.

Get her look: Teyana Taylor

It's a well kept industry secret...but Brazilian Wave is often the answer for those who seek large textured full hair.

Teyana Taylor is rocking hers like no other so we thought we'd reveal the secret on how to recreate her look.

We'd recommend two bags of Brazilian Wave in Color 1B. We would do one package of 18" and one of 14" to naturally recreate the layers worn by Teyana. Then we would do a full head of sewn-in extensions that leave a little of the hairline out.

To maintain this look become friends with affordable moisturizing products such as Cantu Shea Butter, Curls Milkshake or a oldie but goodie Hawaiian Silky 14 n 1. We'd twist out the hair in two strand twist to define and give the curl a uniform look. Then after it air dries lightly separate the curls with your fingers coated in a product such as Morrocan Oil or Argan Oil and then have fun!

Summer climates can be brutal on straight hair styles. The moisture in the air swells the hair shaft reverting our original textures.

This summer many of us have resigned our straight sleek hair fantasies and embraced curly hair extensions. Constantly using heat to straighten your hair can wreak havoc on your strands.

Natural Hair Care Suggestions

At Sunny's we love Natural Hair. Many of our staff have converted from relaxers to natural hair by using hair extensions.

Recently we have fallen in love with Bohyme Brazilian Wave. The name is misleading, it sounds like it would be wet and wavy waves...but it's not...it's something much much better.
