Regaine or Minoxidil - Is there any difference between them?

Regaine is the first medication in the history approved by FDA for treating male pattern hair loss. By now it has been approved and is available as a cure for male pattern baldness worldwide. Its main active ingredient is minoxidil, a vasodilator that was originally used in the form of an oral drug Loniten to treat high blood pressure. Minoxidil is a hair-growth stimulant but its exact working is still not known. As Loniten has long come off patent, generic minoxidil is widely available in drugstores at a very reasonable price and in most countries it does not require a doctor’s prescription.

Both Regaine and generic minoxidil solutions come in concentrations of 2% for women and 5% for men but many experimental, generic products use concentrations of up to 20%. Minoxidil is frequently blamed for causing various negative side effects. Since it has become the most commonly-used drug for treating baldness, its side effects are very well documented and they happen to be often exaggerated. In less than one percent of patients they include an irregular or fast heart beat, very low blood pressure, blurred vision, swelling face and ankles, numbness in the hands, etc. These symptoms are directly related to minoxidil being a vasodilator. In addition, minoxidil can cause increased hair growth on the face and other parts of the body. This is due to its ability to stimulate hair growth. But some side effects that minoxidil is often blamed for are not caused by minoxidil itself. They include inflammation, itchiness and redness of the scalp, dandruff and allergic reactions. These side effects can be attributed to the vehicles used in the solution, such as propylene glycol and isopropyl alcohol (propanol). Many hair loss sufferers have discontinued their minoxidil treatment because of scalp problems, although minoxidil rarely causes such negative reactions.

Furthermore, many generic, hair loss products contain supplementary ingredients that are supposed to enhance their overall efficacy, such as azelaic acid, retinoic acid, herbal extracts, etc. These substances, especially the herbal extracts, are known to be allergenic to many people. It is advisable to try several different minoxidil-based products, for instance, those that do not contain propylene glycol, in order to test their tolerability for your scalp. A more expensive product, e.g. the original formulation - Regaine solution - is not necessarily a better option than a less expensive generic mixture. However, Regaine foam, though quite expensive, is typically very well tolerated. Anti-dandruff shampoos, e.g. Nizoral, can, in the majority of patients, be employed successfully to treat scalp inflammations, itchiness and dandruff caused by the use of minoxidil-based topical products.

5. What is Remy Hair?  It refers to a collection process not a brand of hair.  Remy hair means that all the cuticles are in the same direction because the hair was donated by either cutting off ponytails or braids.  The most common source of Remy hair is from India or China
6. What is Virgin Hair? Virgin Hair refers to hair that has been donated that has never been processed chemically.  This allows the hair cuticle to be healthy and intact which prevents dry hair and tangling.
7. Why do some brands say they sell Virgin Indian Hair when it is colored and texturized?  They figure that you haven't done your research...and it isn't regulated.  Very similar to when you buy all natural potato chips.  All Natural is a term any vendor can put on a package and it isn't regulated by the FDA the same applies to Remy.
   
8. Why can't I get my shipment tomorrow if I order it today?  If you order something online and you need it tomorrow....we aren't your company.   We are a small business that has to protect our selves and our customers from fraud.   This takes time and we do not have the logistics to do this without compromising security standards.  Please understand every order is subject to a 24 processing time.
   
9. Why can't they answer my questions about my web order at the stores?  Just like most retailers our website is a separate yet affiliated company.  Our sales associates at our stores have absolutely no access to our online store records.  Moreover they are usually extremely busy helping our customers who are in front of their face.  Imagine how frustrated you'd be if you were at a store and the associate kept making you wait while they have to keep explaining to someone that they can't assist them.  PLEASE ONLY CALL THE 1-800 for questions with your orders.

Why do they not know everything they should at the 1-800 #  The 1800 is a call center.  They are there to assist our customers with things like placing and tracking orders, answering basic questions.  Any questions that go beyond the scope of their knowledge will be answered within 24 hours.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE 1-800 for questions specific to our retail locations...they can't assist you.
11. Do the Kardashian's wear hair extensions?  One of our favorite celebrities...if you couldn't tell from reading our blog.  We haven't had them to us directly...but common sense dictates yes they do and if we had to make an extremely informed guess we'd say they use Natural Wave Indian hair in 26" and have them sewn in with a lot of their hair out around the perimeter and crown area. 
12. What's your best selling product?  Two Words:  Indian Hair!  We travel directly to India and have a relationship with factories that get the first pick of Temple hair from Tiraputi Temple in India.  
13. What type of products should you use on hair extensions?  Sulfate free shampoo and lightweight conditioners.  If you use heat then we recommend a thermal heat protectant.  We like Chi hot Sauce or Rene Furterer.
